Our Mailing List Policy

We’ve separated our mailing list into several different categories so that you can make sure that you’re only receiving the information that you want, and we’re not filling your inbox with anything that’s not relevant to you.

If you’re already on our mailing list, but would like to modify which items you receive (or cancel them all), please click here.

Please note that if you sign up as a member, you are automatically enrolled on all of the mailing lists, but you can remove yourself from any of the lists at any time by using the same link above.

All of our mailing list emails will come from no-reply@columbuscoop.org.  Because of the large number of recipients on our lists, this address is often picked off by spam filters.  So if you want to receive them, please make sure this address is on your “safe list” and mark the messages as “not junk.”

We will never sell, lease or otherwise give you email address to anyone else, and we won’t send you third-party advertisements.

Emails with information personal to you will usually come from info@columbuscoop.org. If you’ve submitted a story for consideration for publication or entered a contest, it’s very important that you can receive emails from this address.  Please add it to your safe list.  If this email address can’t get through to you, it’s likely that you’ll miss important information and you may lose your opportunity to publish with us if you don’t receive your email.

There are a few domains that we can not usually get through to. These include @juno.com, @netzero.com and oftentimes @aol.com and @yahoo.com.  If you have one of these addresses, it may be time to upgrade your life and get a free e-mail account from gmail.com.

Here’s what to expect if you’re on our mailing list:

New Books and Publications:  Expect to get an occasional email when we release a new book, or if we run a special sale on the website.

Writers’ Workshops: Expect one email per week about the date of the next workshop and any pertinent information.  On busy weeks, you may receive two emails.

Writing Contests: We’re not always running a contest, so most of the time you won’t receive anything.  However, when we are in the middle of a contest, you may receive up to 2 emails per week with updates and information.

Special Events:  We have a live public event about once a quarter.  You’ll probably receive a couple of reminder emails for each one.

Publishing Opportunities:  This year, we’re publishing three books.  When we’re not collecting submissions for publication, you won’t receive anything.  The closer we get to the deadline, the more emails you’ll receive, but never more than one or two a week.

Opportunities for my Business:  You’ll be emailed a few times a year when opportunities arise to sponsor our work.

As you can see, none of these lists by themselves are going to clog your inbox.  However, if you’re on all of them, there may be times when you receive two or three emails in a week.  If that’s too many, please visit our website and unsubscribe from the information you don’t want, rather than marking our messages as “junk” or “spam” which makes it harder for users who want the information to receive it.

It’s our goal to only send you information you actually want.  So we’ve tried to make our system as simple and easy to choose exactly the information you want as possible.  We hope it works for you, but if you have any trouble, please contact us.

Please note that the information for updating your mailing list preferences is also included at the bottom of every mailing list email that we send out.  Thanks!
